Wild Rumpus ~ The Rivermen ~ April 16, 2011

Well had another evening rather weekend of  'Firsts' .... I friggin' ♥ that! Went to see Al & Andrew at The Rivermen expecting duo/ acoustic (which i ♥) but got Wild Rumpas full band outside. A unexpected surprize and most enjoyable one I might add. I wasn't real sure as to exactly where they were playing was in the right area but couldn't find them. Rolled down my window and heard the music lead me right to them. I might also add that the sound outside at The Rivermen is perfect the music carries thru the hills and can heard from afar. I loved that! The more I hear this band the more I'm falling in love with them. Wild Rumpus is a real treat for any audience with Allan & Andrew's comedy to the beautiful sound's they produce this is a 'feel good' band that make's ya wanna get up and dance and enjoy being alive for another day. Allan produced a Custom banjo (made by Andrew) that was absoultely gorgeous made from Koa & love. Andrew said that (upon Allen's breaking out his new toy) this could be either Magic or Tragic. However forgot to put a pick up in it so I didn't get to hear that baby purr last nite but I'll be back for some more Rumpus'n for sure. Vids may or may not follow as The Rumpus' declared last nite as a practice session with alot of first's. If that was a practice session then Sweet Jesus I'm ready for another show as I enjoyed every minute of it and apparently so did every one else. For more info on Wild Rumpus go here

Biography
Hailing from Fayetteville, WV, the Wild Rumpus is an original string band led by singer and songwriter, Andrew Adkins. Forging a sound that has one foot stomping in the past and the other stomping in the present, their debut album “Love, Trains & Home” on WV label Mudbone Records rolls together bluegrass, swing, country, and rock & roll for a style that is uniquely their own. Their influences range from Leonard Cohen to Jimmy Martin and touch everything in between while managing to hold together a sound that is instantly recognizable and will start your legs to dancing on their own. They have been playing shows promoting their summer CD release to rave reviews and the dancing has been spontaneous and instantaneous!
