Irene ~ August 2011 (My journal)

August 28, 2011~
Some think I'm outta my mind for coming here to Outer banks but I don't believe any one truely understands my love for this island. I simply had to come, my son is with me and shares these feelings. On the way down from Richmond on we began to see signs of Irene with huge trees split right in half. Some were in/on the road, we dodged plywood on the highway and debris. Upon arriving in Norfolk it got alittle worse with giant trees (probably 80+ yrs. old) completely uprooted and moved. The fields with corn, tobacco and any thing else that some of these folks depend on to make a living gone, standing water replaces the once harvest. I've seen pictures of Hwy. 12 around Rodanthe no longer there due to an inlet that now has taken the road. My profile pic is a pic of my favorite fishing store which right where the inlet claimed the road. They are allowing us to get onto the island today at noon. i'll know more then, I'm checking on the house in which I'm staying in for a friend who lives in Richmond, va. I hope to find it still there for both of us. Will post again later on today or this evening depending on if I can get back on. It's been sketchy here & there with service. I will add that I've seen an army of Power trucks that are working as fast as the can to restore power to those that are out. Gas stations... forget it. I was smart enough to fill up before I got to where I thought I'd be in trouble and glad I did. As most are w/o power and the ones with power are w/o gas. I have never seen so many towns (from Richmond to Elizabeth city) so quiet... no one on the streets and literally no business' open, parking lots were empty. Life has changed for a minute for these folks and all is still.

August 29 ~
Upon arrival on the Island I noticed a strange mist/fog that seemed to be rolling in layers, it lasted for most of the day. The sky has been cloudy and still have a bit of wind in the air from Irene. I got to the house in which my friend had rented me also the house in which had I gotten a job here prior I would be living in. I loved it immediately.... it is small 2 bedroom and decorated as if I had done it myself. I accessed the damage as promised took pics and emailed the owner. Picked up what we could outside and realigned decking as it was askew from Irene. Made a call and within the hour the minor damages were fixed . The house is in a small neighborhood that is not rented out to visitors, I am surrounded by year round residents which is cool and a bit different from any other trip I've made here in the last 20 yrs. Kids were playing in the street, owners were cleanning up their yards from Irene, moms were unloading groceries for the work/school week. Life on the Banks was getting back to normal after a major Hurricane. I could totally see myself living here. We settled into the house unpacked, and went to the grocery store for the week as well. Round mid day there was a loud warning sound that came across the air ways of a tornado touch down in Dare co. Exactly where my son & I were, we had set out to do some exploring feeling good that we had done our small part in helping with the aftermath. Quickly decided to get back to the house and prepare for the "Whats next" for this Island hoping this tornado would bypass us. It did touch down some where NW of us, have not heard word on damages as yet. I thought to myself what in the hell can OBX or any of us "How much more can we take?" In less than 2 weeks we have seen Earthquakes, Hurricane and now a Tornado. Mother nature is seriously pissed and we are feeling her wrath!

August 30~
Woke up to still grey cloudy skies and a hint of chill in the wind. People around me are getting back to life as normal on the Island. They are accessing Hwy 12 today and trying to figure out what & how to fix the now inlet that once was a road in Rodanthe. That part of the Island is cut off to visitors, the people who stuck out the storm (a few in which I know) are stuck until a solution has been come up with.
On Tuesday, August 30, vehicles with a purple sticker and vehicles with a green sticker (residents) will be allowed on the Swan Quarter and Cedar Island ferries to Ocracoke, in that priority order. Residents with a current, valid drivers license are also allowed. This will allow infrastructure, utilities, and essential personnel to get in place and residents to get back to their homes. There is NO reentry to Ocracoke for non-resident property owners or visitors until further notice.
North Carolina’s electric co-ops have reconnected 118,000 households since Hurricane Irene knocked out power to 152,000 members in eastern North Carolina.
About 34,000 members have yet to be reconnected, mostly due a lack of access in some the more remote service territory areas
Posted a video's on my page for those that are interested & have love for this Island.
"The following items are needed by the residents in Rodanthe, Waves, and Salvo: plastic totes, batteries, plastic ware, paper plates, trash bags, buckets, pitch forks, wheel barrows, large heavy duty trash bags and cans, gas, propane, shovels and heavy duty gloves. It was quiet last nite here at the house, had some neighbors getting kids ready for school today. This is cool to me because for the first time I'm staying in a lived in neighborhood... not a rental that's pimped out from week to week. These folks are real it is refreshing to be amongst them and hear their stories of the storm Irene and of storms past. To hear stories of life here on the Banks, to hear of never wanting to leave this island. When I asked "Where do you go on vacation?" Both neighbors living side by side and across the street from their front porches replied......No where, we stay home! Right then & there I felt my heart smile. I looked up into the sky and for the first time since I've been here I saw stars!

August 31, 2011~ The sun is out and it's a beautiful day here in Outer Banks.
I'm going to the store today to do my part...if your a visitor you should to~

May 13, 2011 ~ Friday the 13th. ~Beggars Opera Reunion at Fosters

Beggars Opera has been around for many moons and if you've never had the opportunity to see these guys live or too young to have 'taken a ride' w/ Beggars Opera then you have surely missed out!

Beggars Opera is made up of :

Chuck Wiseman ~ Kit, harp, bongos
Dave Marcus ~ Kit, bongos
Stuart Hill ~ Lead guitar, vocals
Chuck Andrews ~ Guitar, vocals
Jim Pino ~ Rhythm, vocals
John Ashley ~ Bass, vocals

Beggars Opera not to be mistaken for 'Bare Essentials' is made up of a group of musicans that are no stranger to the stage. Only thing missin' was Mike Mitchell and his fiddle. Tonite (for the short time that I got to enjoy)  was Over the Top AWESOME! You simply can not get much better than this. Had peeps literally come from Florida & Boston just to catch these guys on stage once again. My favorite quote of the nite was from Chuck Andrews (which was before they even started playing) says to a musican from Boston in the crowd.. "This things gonna get Real loose towards the end" if ya wanna get up and jam.. jus sayn'.
Beggars Opera started out strong like I knew they would with tunes from New Riders, Allman Bros, Lou Reed, and even alittle yes James Taylor. Wish I could have stayed longer guys but working for the man on Saturdays prevents it.
I'll close with a few of (just my take) on what I noticed right off the bat w/ these fine group of men.

Chuck Andrews ~ Permanent smile. (this has got to be the happiest man I know when it comes to playing his guitar for folks.)

Stuart Hill ~ All bout the business... the business of 'Gettin' Down Wit it'. (this man just flat out amazes me every friggin' time i see him play) There is NOTHING he can't do with a guitar in his hands.

Jim Pino ~ Just happy to be here.. :) Jim's vocals are and always have been (to me) best described as 'Some kinda sexy'.

John Ashley ~ Bit more 'Funk in his trunk' then I remember... and da Funk felt good!

Chuck Wiseman ~ Broke out a harp and made those Bongos feel & sound familar like he's been playin' them all along.

Dave Marcus ~ 'Lovin' life right bout now'.

I got vids and they will follow at some point tomorrow.. Guys my apologies for not being able to hang out.. I feel like I robbed myself. Much Love & Much, much Respect to each of you!

Wild Rumpus ~ The Rivermen ~ April 16, 2011

Well had another evening rather weekend of  'Firsts' .... I friggin' ♥ that! Went to see Al & Andrew at The Rivermen expecting duo/ acoustic (which i ♥) but got Wild Rumpas full band outside. A unexpected surprize and most enjoyable one I might add. I wasn't real sure as to exactly where they were playing was in the right area but couldn't find them. Rolled down my window and heard the music lead me right to them. I might also add that the sound outside at The Rivermen is perfect the music carries thru the hills and can heard from afar. I loved that! The more I hear this band the more I'm falling in love with them. Wild Rumpus is a real treat for any audience with Allan & Andrew's comedy to the beautiful sound's they produce this is a 'feel good' band that make's ya wanna get up and dance and enjoy being alive for another day. Allan produced a Custom banjo (made by Andrew) that was absoultely gorgeous made from Koa & love. Andrew said that (upon Allen's breaking out his new toy) this could be either Magic or Tragic. However forgot to put a pick up in it so I didn't get to hear that baby purr last nite but I'll be back for some more Rumpus'n for sure. Vids may or may not follow as The Rumpus' declared last nite as a practice session with alot of first's. If that was a practice session then Sweet Jesus I'm ready for another show as I enjoyed every minute of it and apparently so did every one else. For more info on Wild Rumpus go here

Ian recently won the 106.1 The Corner theme song contest with his song, Up on the Corner.
I started & ended my evening with Jacabone in Scottsville, Va. A small town that after a long winding road to get there was quite pleasing once there. 330 Valley Street is a bar on one side with a restaurant on the other. I ventured into the restaurant first Jacabone was already playing as I could hear them thru the only thing between us was a wall. I quickly ordered a Pint accompanied with a very nice plating of Tuna. The Pint was perfect the tuna even better. The music I was hearing was calling my name Rolling Stones was in the background performed by Jacabone. I knew right then and there I had to get over there and quickly place myself up front so I could video. Jacabone spit out several favorites of which are but not limited to Bill Withers (Use me up), Shakey Ground, T for Texas (Skynrd), Allman Bros. (One way out), Bob Marley (I shot the sheriff), Steve Miller ( the joker), Superstition along with a host of others. I am feeling this band along with every one else in joint. I say joint but 330 Valley Street has just been redone and I must say I LOVED it. Chris my new fb friend & bartender is exceptionally friendly and he immediately made me feel right at home.
Fritz Berry on harp is smooth like butta...his vocals remind me of Greg Allman with a touch of B.B king sprinkled with alittle Marley. I like.
Ian Gilliam's vocals & guitar playing skills are just SIK... makes you stand up and pay attention.. I paid attention. :)
Rounding out the sound was Drex on kit with JD bangin' & poppin dat bass to bring it on home. I love this band and will be back to show some more love & support... Keep me posted boys, I gots da love & do travel. ~ smile.

MARCH 25, 2011 ~ WILD RUMPUS * BLVD. TAVERN (charleston, wv)

Hometown: Fayetteville, WV
Genres: Folk / Stompgrass / Punkgrass
Label: Mudbone Records
Members: Andrew Adkins,Mando,Vox
Allan Sizemore, Guitjo,Harmonica,Vox
Dr. Sneed, Guitar, Reso
Clint Lewis, Doghouse Bass
Mix the downhome lyrical stylings of Townes Van Zandt, Steve Earle, and Guy Clark, spice it up with some Uncle Tupelo and you've got The Wild Rumpus. Singer/songwriter, Andrew Adkins, tells his tales with deep-lunged gusto while backed by Charlie Garvin's pseudo-bluegrass guitar, Allan Sizemore's Carolina inspired banjo, and Dr. Sneed's resonator stylings and Clint Lewis holding the rock-solid foundation on bass. The whole album has a bouncy, almost live feel about it. The group's debut album consists of primarily upbeat rhythms tempered with haunting ballads like "Ghost Town" and "For Grandpa". The final two tracks "Lost & Found", and "Don't Mess Around (Mama Said)" have an entirely different feel to them. The former speaks of the hardships of the dust bowl era with a driving, downbeat rhythm and the latter is a percussive call-and-repeat accented by heavy foot stomping and a bluesy guitar and harmonica duel. The album manages to capture the raw sound of live acoustic instruments while at the same time providing a rugged vehicle for Adkins stories of, well, love, trains, and home.

I have heard Allens originals, Andrews originals, Jonathan crazy geetar skillz and last nite in Charleston at the Blvd. Tavern I met the 4th. Rump Clint Lewis. I couldn't have imagined with what little 'tid bit's' of flavor I've gotten so far what the main course was gonna taste like, until last nite. Boys let me tell you what.... it was soooo worth the wait! When I first walked into the Blvd. Tavern I immediately took notice to that beautiful stand up Bass on stage along w/ a Banjo and a custom Mandolin. Which by the way Andrew Adkins made himself with Oak wood and walnut smashed into that wood that produced a beautiful tiger stripe like finish along with alittle skull on the front. Which is Andrew's signature... I loved it and the story behind it. Rumpus started playing and right from the damn get go the floor was full with peeps diggin' it and getting their 'Stomp on'. I was curious as to what this Stompgrass sound was.. immediately I phuckin' got, immediately I phuckin' loved it! Wild Rumpus did some Dylan, alittle Blues, Rolling in my sweet babies arm, Allman Bros even threw in a love song. Between Andrews 'bouncy' personality & bare feet on stage (You have no idea what that does to me) ... Ouy! and interaction with the audience and his vocals to Allens 'Big Sexy' persence and mountain man voice to Sneeds amazing phuckin' guitar skills to Lewis bangin' & poppin of dat Big beautiful Bass the nite was full of wonderful music to this chica's ears... I am a FAN and I will come back fo sum mo! If you've never been to the Blvd. Tavern in Charleston, wv I suggest you go always a good time, friendly & efficient wait staff , good food and cold beer. Ya might even get the treat of hearin'  Dave play his famous Washboard. ~ smile.

p.s As I was leaving (and damn I so wish I could have stayed) I heard a Chica brag to someone beside her and I quote ~ " You know they're playing for MY wedding".. snicker, snicker. Dude beside her says..... WOW! ~ I had a HUGE smile on my face as I walked out the door. :)

Not only have the members, Sean Bera - Vocals and Guitar, Mark Lynch - Drums, and Perry Mabry – Bass Guitar, come... from diverse and colorful musical backgrounds ranging from the Mountains of Virginia to the streets of Philadelphia & Baltimore, but they know how to produce a colorful array of sound on the stage as well.
The crowd is taken on a musical journey from one song to the next as PolyChrome explores genres from the 60’s Beatles, to the 80’s Men at Work, to the present with Gavin DeGraw or even Ke$ha. Add some rejuvenated renditions of Johnny Cash’s “Ring of Fire” or Soft Cell’s “Tainted Love” and the PolyChrome effect becomes unmistakable.
Recently voted "Best Local Band" by both Roanoke's City Magazine and
The Roanoke Times Music Poll, PolyChrome is as in tune with their audience as a band can be. The members of the band take time to talk to the crowd between sets and listen to each thought, idea, and request, so that future events can be even better and more personalized to the listeners.
PolyChrome has an original 14-song CD entitled "All County Champs" that is as diverse as the artists they cover onstage. The songs are a blend of everything the band has grown up around over the past two decades, which has allowed the members of PolyChrome to share the stage with such a wide range of artists as: Great White, Quiet Riot, and L.A. Guns, to Coal Chamber, to Sister Hazel and Bowling for Soup.
A highly entertaining stage presence, complete with self-ridiculing humor, and both individual and crowd participation, will no doubt have you asking yourself, “Why haven’t I heard of these guys before?”. You may even wonder if your iPod was borrowed to create the set list for the night!
From Roanoke, Va
Beckley loves Polychrome, every time Polychrome come to town its a damn party! Sean, Perry & Mark bring the house down every single time! I could go on with a set list here but I won't I'll let the vids speak for themselves. We love you Polychrome and can not get enough!
* Favorite quote from last nite ~ Were gonna make ya Sweat or get Wet! ~ Sean Bera.
From the looks of the Chica's on the dance floor... ya did both! ~smile.
Vids will follow~

Mike Snodgrass & Oz stepped up on stage w/ the Poly for a minute or three...

MARCH 12, 2011 ~ BIG DADDY & THE MUDKATZ * ELLIOTTS

Started my nite with alittle Big Daddy & sum Mudkatz which consist of
Jim Pino, Scott Workman, Rob Sizemore.
As soon as I walk into Elliotts the joint is packed at 9pm good sign. Big Daddy & Mudkatz were up on stage and ready to rock. Rock is exactly what they did right off the freakin' bat Workman started slingin' out some Blues with Pino on lead and Sizemore on kit. This band & the Blues go together like Bread & Butta'.....
Spit out some If it wouldn't be for bad luck id have no luck at all, Joe Walsh (Rocky mtn. high), Satisfied, ZZ top, Good Time, The Animals (bring it on home to me) just to name a few. This was just the first set, I can only imagine what the rest of the nite held. Unfortunately I did not get to stay as I had 3 more stops to make before this chica's nite was done. My routine has been One bar, One set, One beer this allows me to grab alittle taste throughout the nite. However some nites (like this one) I wish I'd stayed for the full entree. Next time Mudkatz...
What I did notice in this set is that Jim Pino is playin' like a wild man strokin' that Axe like he owned it. Which in fact he does... gave me a flashback when I first saw him play my thought then was WOW my thought last nite was Daayum! Made me smile.. big & wide. Scott Workman bangin' & poppin' dat Bass with Sizemore rounding it out on his kit was nothing short of SEXY music and made this Chica' squirm alittle in her seat. :) I love this band and suggest every one to check them out Once or just Once more.

I've seen this band many times before and they are a straight up IN YOUR FACE Rock band. I had gone to Fosters fairly early to grab a bite to eat and catch a set of IHAJ .... keeping with my (now) work schedule with limiting my hours out on Friday (due to work on sat. morn) . Any way got there round 9:50 (ish) and ordered (thanks Tilley for whipping me up something) even though the kitchen was close to shutting down. Spoke with both Jason(s) prior to set, we had all (after talkin' music for a bit) concured how beyond tired we were and had to work tomorrow. But even beyond 'Tired' the Jason(s) & myself came outta it the second they stepped on stage. Kicked off with some 3am, Let me slip away, Rehab (a fav), I really want to know, Weezer (hash pipe), along with a slew of other kick ass tuneage. I notice one thing about IHAJ is they have their own following. Dedicated loyal fans that are at ever single show (shout out to Miss Kelly Maddy). This made me smile (yet once again) for the talent & support our hills we call home bring. Way to go Beckley for supporting your Muse. ~smile
P.s Rare I have no vids to follow.... however I Do have pics. Granted not as good (as this is how it all began w/ me ~ pics) but VIDS capture the Now and I like the Now. :)

MARCH 5, 2011 ~ THREE CARD MONTE * MOOSE IN OAK HILL

Began my nite in Oak Hill, Wv at none other than the Moose Club to see Three Card Monte. Now I'm a member of the Beckley Moose myself (joined it for that big ass Jackpot) they have every thursday nite. Upon walking into the Moose I noticed dance floor was jammed packed not once but every single song. This makes me Smile big & wide as I love peeps showin' their love for music, not only do they love it they know all the freakin' words. Tells me just one thing... you are never to old to 'just dance'. Hell I believe I'm even lookin' at a former Laugh- In (remember that show) Go-go dancer up in here that is tearing that dance floor a new ass. I also notice another thing these Oak Hill men love their women you can see it in their eyes and feel it on the floor.

Three Card Monte ~ 3 piece band made up of Brian Hornsby * Jay Milam * Steve Sparks.

They have been entertaining the crowds for more than 15 years, sometimes together, and sometimes with other musicians. Together again, they are Three Card Monte. Began their set with Roll of the dice, Walk softly, China Grove, Take it easy, Guitars & Cadillacs, Mustang Sally, Nitty Gritty dirt band among a host of other covers that were spot the hell on! Brian Hornsby vocals are very nice, very soothing.. I like. I'm convinced that there is nothing this man can't sing or hasn't sung. I'm diggin' his vocals.. Brian you can sing for this chica' any ole' time you want. ;) Wish I could have stayed but had 2 more bands to go see/hear & film. Next time I promise I will stay longer than a set.
Vids will follow... stay tuned.

MARCH 5, 2011 ~ VERNS POT O CHILI * CANTRELLS

Second 1/2 of my nite ventured to Cantrells to give a listen to Verns pot o Chili.

7 piece band that are made up of:
Jim Allder * Brian Carr * Jason Johans * Ian Lutz * Neil Jones * Dan Freeman * Charles Hatcher.

Formed in 2001 in the great state of West Virginia, Vern’s Pot O’ Chili has since become one of the states leading live acts. The band has performed in every major city in the state and has also made appearances at several festivals and state wide events including the Snowshoe Home Grown Music Festival, Fire on the Mountain Chili Cook-off, Pete Dye Classic (PGA Amateur Tour event), Old Timers Reunion Party, Culturefest, Annual Ridge Stock Festival, Annual WVU Sierra Swing Fundraiser, Annual West Virginia Wiffleball Tournament, Carnegie Hall Benefit Concert (Lewisburg, WV), and the Woodstock Reunion Party. VPOC also regularly performs at several of West Virginia’s top music venues.

Vern’s Pot O’ Chili has an extremely unique mixture of sounds ranging from reggae to bluegrass to hip-hop and funk which has proven time and time again to entice a crowd for the duration of their performances. The band comprises its set lists of mostly original songs, but influences include the styles of Toots and the Maytals, Galactic, Rasta Rafiki, Parliament Funkadelic, The Roots, Bill Withers, and Johnny Cash.

I have heard of Verns for years now just had never actually caught them live and all's I have say about that is 'Where in the eff have I been?'  This band was a REAL treat! Right off the bat I thought Whoa... Big band  on stage had 3 horns, 1 harp, bass, rhythm, lead, kit & a Uke. I began to listen and automatically was in love with this Reggae vibe I was hearin' & feelin'. Big band with a full bodied sound. Verns spit out several ear candy tunes one in particular I loved was an original 'Check Mate' (Big River records). Holy Shiznit was I diggin' this band and by the looks of the dance floor so is every one else. Threw out alittle song by Bill Withers (Use me up) that was (as if I even doubted it by this point) SPOT ON. Just when I thought it could not have possibly gotten any better.... it did. Drummer & Rhthym switched places and kicked it up a notch or three. At this point I could not even get close enough to film but when I heard Dan Freeman's guitar solo... I thought fuck it I've got to get up there and so I did. Missed filming the solo (general disgust) but caught the end of it any who. Freeman said here's alittle something for the ladies... the ladies liked, they like alot!  Verns pot o chili is nothing short of Sensually pleasing to the ear. I actually wished I'd stayed in the ville last nite and finshed up w/ Verns cuz it was all I could do to pull myself away. But I had promised to give a listen to another band in Beckley... and I am a woman of my word. One word bout this band screams out to me... FESTY! I would love to see Verns outside in the sunshine & barefoot. Who knows maybe I'll get that chance this summer. Vern ya gotta another fan.. I'm diggin' the Shiznit outta ya. I will be back fo sho. ~smilin' still.
Vids will follow & will be posted into this Blog as they upload.. stay tuned.
P.s I will apologize now for some of these vids may be a bit "Shakey" as my feet got happy and I could not keep still... forgot the ole' tripod. :/

FEB. 26, 2011 ~ THE BOATMEN * RANDY'S RETURN

Randy has been away for a month training with his beautiful lab Willow, so these guys haven't played together in alittle while but you know what The Boatmen are back with 'Avengence' because last nite right from the start was SPOT ON... vocally & musically!

Started off with alittle Jackie Greene (Ball n Chain) Durm nailed it! Then we got alittle True Blood followed with I shall be released, Tom Petty, Beatles, Stuck in the middle with you, You got lucky babe, Come together, Got me a woman, Use me up, Weezer (sweater), Creepin' round sprinkled with a original from their new CD which Mullins asked Randy when it's comin out Randy replies when it comes out. Just when I thought My god how can this get any better... it does Boatmen started to Pre-game for Floydfest (yes they got in) with alittle Festie style Magic Carpet Ride with Mullins & Durm singing. As I look around the crowd I notice every body is loving it (the sisters in particular) as they wuz backin' dat ass up and Shakin' what their mama gave em! Made me smile and laugh out loud. The Boatmens harmony last nite was I beleive the best I've ever heard, the music from their instruments flowed. It was a celebration indeed on many levels.. We celebrate Randys return, we embrace Willow, and Beckley Embraced the return of the Boatmen! The Boatmen are the REASON I do what I do... support, video, blog. True story....I love you!

FEB, 26, 2011 BRADLEY JENKINS * THE LOST PARROT

Bradley Jenkins from Huntington, Wv opened up for the Boatmen and it was the perfect fit. I've only seen Brad once before as all of us had that attended the Anne Cline benefit several weeks ago. When he first opened his mouth to sing I said it then I'm saying it now... 'Old soul'. I told this to Brad and he informed me that is how he feels about himself. Well Mr. Jenkins it sure show's. You have talent and a beautiful voice! Bradley played Matt Mullins guitar for the evening he threw out some originals Cold, Ellie Mae as well as covered a few favorites Beatles, Jack Johnson, Plastic Jesus, So Sally can wait, Wagon wheel, Angel from Montgomery (which he said he had never played out before) no worries Brad... you kicked it's ass even threw out alittle Rap song bout West Virginia. Bradley is my gem, my diamond I love this guy and will support him, plug him, book him, video him. Brad's passion for what he does is strong and he's excited to start this journey, I'm excited for him as well and will help him out all that I can. Vids will follow.

FEB 25, 2011 ~ FLETCHERS GROVE * FOSTERS

Fletchers Grove is :

 Ryan Krofcheck (rhythm guitar/vocals)
Matt Marion (percussion/vocals)
Wes Hager (lead guitar/flute)
Taylor Pratt (bass)
Adam Greene (drums)
“Fletchers Grove is a two-drummer-based, Garcia approved jam band that filters its tunes through a melodic dead-fed roots blend that is nothing but peaceful, easy festival feelings in the ears.”
This band has been making its way into the scene ever since 2006. With their eclectic roots, Fletcher's Grove combines tight vocal harmonies, with a soulful-jamming-jazz-influenced guitar duo, backed up by a slapping bass, and a driving drum ensemble. Fletcher’s Grove is merging the classic sounds of the 60’s with rudiments of funk fusion, and a little jazz flute into a high energy sound that keeps groovin’. Giving the younger crowed a beat to get down to while reminding the older crowed of those classic sound. Fletchers Grove brought it to Beckley... and Beckley loved it. Dance floor stayed full and peeps even helped load out when they were done. If you came and listened and you'd like more info on Fletchers Grove here's the web site. Embrace Fletchers Grove.....

FEB 24 ~ BENEFIT FOR JK TYREE * THE LOST PARROT.

First off would like to shout out to Michelle Treadway for putting this benefit together. It was a HUGE success made over $700 before 8pm and 'before' the music & auction  began! One more shout out as well to The Lost Parrot ~ if you wan't to throw a successful benefit for some one in need this is the place to do it. I've not missed one single one yet and every one has helped to raise a ton of money for good cause's.

First up on stage is Mike Snodgrass (from Cinnamon Sensation) ~ Mike warms everone up with some (and I quote) 'sexy music'.. (You are the best thing.) Snodgrass break's out his new Harp on several songs (Stand by me), kick's it old school w/ (Just my imagination), Cover from Carl Barkley (correct me if I'm wrong here Mike), Down by the River did a brand new song from 2nd. cd (Hold on) loved it! Rob Gross (from The Boatmen) steps up on stage now. Now Mike & Rob used to gig together as The Mike & Rob experience sounded good then.... Harmonize well together now. Threw out some It takes two, Every day, I'm so tired finished up with Billie Jean. Rob Gross' vocals are spot on! This man is most usually found behind a kit or bangin' out his Bongo's backing up with those golden pipes of his. Rob Gross' vocals are just that 'Golden' and I enjoyed every bit of it. Snodgrass finishes up his set with a Introduction for John Puckett and tells everyone to stick around to be Wowed..

Up next on stage John Puckett from Beckley, wv now living in Tn. Puckett starts off with saying this is a celebration for JK Tyree to celebrate his seeing another birthday.... Happy Birthday JK. Now Mike Snodgrass said we we're gonna be WOWed by John Puckett and boy did he hit the nail on the head with that one!  John Puckett (one man show) as I tagged him with just the first song. I noticed right off the bat the variety of instruments he has surrounded himself with. I also notice how quickly & smoothly he switches from one to the other with little to no effort at all. First song ( Love everybody) changes up from acoustic guitar to bass (which i might add is a real jewel ) both visually pleasing as well as ear candy, then to bongos and back to his acoustic. All in one song , all with ease, all smooth like butta'... I hear Matt Mullins yell from the crowd "Turn it up"... Puckett says request granted. Holy Batshit Robin this man is my Gem of the nite!! John Puckett did several original's which i love One day at a time, Won't give up, Wastin' time and a Temptation cover (Papa was a rollin' stone) that kicked ass! I am totally diggin' this upbeat Reggae vibe Puckett's got going on. Puckett has 3 cd's out and needless to say I bought them all. Note to self ~ friend on facebook and follow this man Crazy fuckin' good vibe & muse.. I dig. I'd also be curious to see if he's ever heard of Mishka if not I'd like to turn him on.

http://www.facebook.com/l.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DN29RZYRP_e8&h=03e06

Up next IHAJ~
IHAJ brought the Rock to da house like they always do with their high energy & shreddin' skillz. Jason Lockart was sporting his brand new clear custom guitar and man did he make that baby SING... No doubt Dawsons & Lockarts ability to feed off one another musically it's a Rock N Roll show every time w/ Wiseman on kit & Pruitt on bass make's for the complete package. Jason Dawson says... We came all the way up here from Florida for JK Tyree and man that gives me partial wood! :)  They covered a variety of songs got to Sex on Fire and the crowd goes fuckin' wild! This band may be young in age but have Seasoned Electric Souls that feed from each other, the crowd eats it, feeds on it, lives for it, makes love to it. Yea I said makes love to it.. i notice the ladies this time as well as many other times in the past seem to get all 'Horned' up while watchin' them play. Course the guys dig that shiz too make's for a good nite all the way around ~ wink*wink.

Finish the evening w/ my boyz ~ THE BOATMEN
With John Puckett sitting in on Jason Lockart's clear custom. All I can say here is Oh My God again.... begins the set with an original One time man, Got you where I want you (Lockart joins in with this one) love, love, love it. Tyrone (Rob Gross) sings it with Jevon stepping in. Lockart on lead, Mulli on Rhythm, Durn bangin' his bass. Kicked out some True blood, Friends in low places, Citizen Cope, Soul Shine, with a variety on originals from the second cd. Puckett steps up and takes Lockarts rockin' clear axe and make's that baby wail... Matt Mullins barefoot and preachin' to the choir with his song and the choir 'Embraces' ..... This nite was such a great nite in more ways than one. Auctioned off all items , raised alot of money for jk, and heard some old favorite songs as well as some new ones.

To sum this evening up..... Sum Beach where's the damn 'Rewind' button I wanna do THAT again!~

Vids will follow ~ however did not get to 'Capture' the entire nite as the floor was jammed packed and i had no where to set up. I have a love/hate relationship with this sceanario.. I love it (cuz i can dance)... I hate it (cuz i document it).

FEB 22, 2011 ~ JONATHAN SNEED & MATT MULLINS * GUMBOS

Not sure where to start here first off no vid's will follow, freakin' video camera failed... But you know what I felt as if they played for me. Now I know they didn't as they're was other peeps there but just trying to put ya'll in my head for a minute or three. First thing I notice is this Sneed's screw on capo (never seen one before) but I like it. Seem's to work better, tighter, with alittle more dependability. Plus the fact it's pretty damn cool looking and fits this Seasoned guitar player well. Second thing I notice is this Sneed (now this is just my ramblin' blog) and don't mean a damn thing but my thoughts but he seem's to keep time with his mouth (his teeth in particular) I've seen this before and for a minute or three I see Mullins do it sorta keepin' time w/ him in his mouth. Which leads me to my third assumption.... funny how musican's feed off one another in one form or another. I like that, I like being witness to it.. make's me smile. Also I love the setting of Gumbo's it's small and intimate and there is no need for mics, or amps and it's perfect to me. Mullins & Sneed started out with 40 dogs w/ Mulli singing  it like he owned  and Sneed kicked right in like he had played it for years. Mullins spit out several originals all of which (I'm not sure if Jonathan had heard before) but played them like he had . Some of which were I cry for you, If it dont matter to you, Move like a jelly fish (song that nobody knows), Long Black Veil, Randy Owen song~ (the one thing that you don't wanna do is get raging drunk and profess your love for Randy Owens.. might not get that love back) ain't sayin' who said that out loud! :) Citzen Cope (which I love~ son's gonna rise) except this time Mulli free styled a bit and threw in Uncle Snippy tid bits to Sweet Potatoe pie to whatever comes to mind at the moment, I love that about Matt then found his place and got back to son's gonna rise.... Love it when he flow's his shiz...  To sum it up I enjoyed it.. all of it. Sorry I don't have vid's to follow up.
Wanna give a Special shout out to Jonathan Sneed for putting this acoustic Tuesday together at Gumbo's. I've been twice now and yea Ima comin' back!

Tuesday nite at Gumbo's in Fayetteville at 6:30..... GIT CHA' SUM!

FEB 19, 2011 STUART HILL BAND * FOSTERS

Second 1/2 of my nite I spent at Fosters watching Stuart Hill and a host of musican's that gathered for one HELLUVA nite of music! Before I start let me mention who all graced Fosters stage last nite:

Stuart Hill ~ Lead & vocals
Chuck Wiseman ~ Drums
Washboard Dave (Dave Thomas) ~ Washboard & Bongo & Kazoo (from Blvd. Tavern)
Paul Greco (PJ) ~ Bass (from Blvd. Tavern)
JV Flannigan ~ acoustic guitar
John Price ~ guitar
Jason Mitchell ~ acoustic guitar & vocals
Now within 3 hours this band was thrown together with a group of Seasoned musican's that was a nite to remember....
Heard everything from Superstition, SRV, Pinball Wizard, Wagon Wheel that bled right into Country Roads, Ain't no rest for the wicked to fuckin' Journey (forever yours) yes I said it, I heard it... and yea I hate to admit it or even say it out loud.. I loved it!
This was a nite when you start one song bleed it into another song get back to the original song and finish it with a entirely different song.... and sounded good! With this much talent on the stage how can it be any thing less. From Hill's "fast & furious" fingers to Dave's CrAzY mad skillz on his board (by the way left my note book on the table to film for a minute) and when I got back  some one had written in it this~ "Dave Thomas makes playing a washboard sexy!" Waay to go Thomas.. you sexy Mofo you. ; )
to PJ's bangin' & poppin' bass, Wiseman's givin' his kit a workout,Flannigan & Mitchell (yes Jason played acoustic) never seen him do he says I'll probably never see it again. Well we'll see bout that mister (wink, wink, nudge, nudge). To sum up the evening the crowd dug the shit outta it and so did I man... Good times!  I'm constantly BLOWN away of the amount of Talent that these Hills we call home hold. When I trade the Mountains for the Sea I'm truely gonna miss each and every one of you, as I know I'll never come close to being this close to this much talent again. Vid's will follow
p.s Vids will more than likely not be of a steady hand... cuz I damn sure could not hold still.. my feets was happy!

FEB 19, 2011 ~ NATANIEL GOOD & THE BOOTS* THE LOST PARROT

Begun my evening by going to The Lost Parrot to catch Nataniel Good & the Boots. Didn't see any Boots but what I did see is a butt load of pedals right off the bat. Nataniel Good was on stage playing solo now I'm not sure if the Boots got up on stage after I left but all I can say bout Nataniel Good is I liked what I heard. Nataniel did U ain't so wrong (not sure of the title) but loved the song, Ryan Adams (Pick me up), Is that alright with you, I don't get respect (again unsure of title here), Tightrope (original by Nataniel Good). I would love to see this guy perform with a acoustic. Loved his vocals, loved his guitar, loved his playing. Nataniel Good I am a fan and will come see you again!

FEB 11, 2011 ~ MATT JONES (acoustic) * HOOTERS / JASON MITCHELL (acoustic) * THE LOST PARROT / BARE ESSENTIALS (acoustic) * FOSTERS

Listened to 3 different bands last nite ~ all of which happen to be acoustic, It was a wonderful acoustic evening for me filled with great musican's that filled the nite's air with perfect harmony.
Begun the nite by venturing out to Hooters and listening to Matt Jones, 3 piece band that consisted of Matt Jones, Joe Dew (the enigma), Dale Chappell (master of the Cajon box). This was a real treat as actually my entire nite was filled with treat's and hidden treasure's. It is rare that I get to hear Joe Dew play acoustic guitar or even see him out and about. Last nite was one of those nites... and it was well worth the wait! The harmony between Chappell & Jones was music to my ears. Every time I hear Matt Jones sing I'm in awe... man can this man sing. Only got to stay for a couple songs but from what I heard was a perfect beginning to what was going to be a perfect nite. I loved it! For more information on Matt Jones or booking info. go to The Gig Gal friend her and she'll hook ya' up.

Second 1/2 of my nite: The Lost Parrot w/ Jason Mitchell * Stuart Hill * Tom Nord. I was excited about seeing these guys again, I'd seen the acoustic version once before and fell in love all over again with it last nite. Mitchell threw out every thing from I hit the ground running (Keith Urban), Pickin' Wildflowers ( Keith Anderson). Summer come around (Keith Urban), Nobodys lookin' right now (Keith Sweat), Alice in Chains (Man in the box), Stone Temple Pilots, Champagne (Mitchell original). All I can say here after listening to these guys was Daaaayum.... Jason Mitchell & Stuart Hill together harmonizing was once again perfect. Tom Nord on kit rounded out the sound. The vid's will speak for themselves.... push play.

Finished up the evening at Fosters with Bare Essentials (minus a essential) Mike Mitchell you were missed. Up on stage was Chuck Andrews, Chuck Wiseman, Josh Bibb, John Ashley. More acoustic... more goodness! Heard every thing from Twisted sister, Pink Floyd, Good time Charlie,Bob Dylan, Beatles, Wilson Pickett, Lou Reed, Tom Petty along with a host of originals some even from Scott Gilger (who graced the stage) with Old man, Ain't gotta go, Neil Young, Long black veil. Now I knew Gilger could play but what I didn't know is that he could sing.... and has several original songs that I got to hear that was very good. To sum up the evening it was one to be remembered. Finished the nite up sitting round the kitchen table with 5 musican's & lots of long time friends grinnin' , singin' & lots of pickin' into the wee hours ... Hell I even beat on the congas for a couple. By this time unfortunately my video camera was full and I was unable to capture the Icing on this nite's cake.... However saved by Yulanda's cell phone I did get to film.... Vid's pending...

FEB. 5, 2011 ~ THE EMPTY GLASS W/ SOUL MTN. & 600 LBS. OF SIN

Soul Mountain ~
Bill Galloway ~ Drums
Lead vocals & guitar ~ Chris Sutton
Bass ~ Jim Brandm (if I've misspelled this let me know I'll correct)
3 piece tight ass band ~ Psychedelic soul with a Bluesy sound is the best way I can describe Soul Mountain.
The first thing I notice is Chris Sutton's guitar.. Flying V head stock (never have seen one before) Love it and boys does he make that V sing.
I heard them do some covers along with some originals (which I always love) every thing from : Elevator Blues, Carry me home, How many more times ( Sutton broke out a slide on this one), Magic Boy, Bad Habits, 17 Guitar (which Chris & James wrote). John Chickogee (from Diablo Blues) stepped up on stage with Harp in hand and added to this wonderful Bluesy mix. With Chris Sutton's strong vocals, Bill's right on time beat & Jim's bangin' bass I was in Blues heaven. I was diggin' it & so was the crowd. While on break a musican told me something that I already knew... He said for him music should be like a sensual almost sexual experience when it's good. Well BG I concur and have known this for years. For me by the end of the nite, I left feelin' very satisfied & craving more... guess you could say job well done!
P.s I might add sitting (while filming) on that big ass speaker by the ladies room sorta helped too! ~ devilish smile. ;-)

Up Next my Fav's... 600 Lbs. of sin~
600 warmed up with alittle Marley (Don't worry), Can't tell me who to love, Room with a view, Tidal Wave, Severine (which I might add I love when they do this) Pushkin's vocals are like no one else's I've heard. T.J King's original (Feels so good), Fleetwood Mac (Shatter your illusions), 29 (original ),Dear Prudence, Mr. Moon (Sierra's orginal), Bend down low ( I had never heard them to this before) and Mike's strong ass vocals once again blew me the hell away.  Mike even threw in a song he wrote when he was alittle boy. Last nite 600 Lbs. of sin was ON IT. I watched Josh Thomas play his guitar like I've never seen quite before. Tore it a new ass I might say and my god was I glad I was witness to it. This man alone has MAD guitar skillz and with Pushkins along side of him.... Geez these two the place's they take you musically leave's ya beggin' for more. Sierra's vocals well I can not say enough about this chica.... Her  vocal's speak for themselves. I've said it before and I'll say it again.... 600 LBS. of sin is 'Sinfully delicious' and SCREAMS Festy to me! The more I hear this band the more I can see them outside this summer playin' Festivals.... all of them and the crowd eating them up. Speaking of crowds... Charleston peeps were diggin' it & feelin' it and I loved it. I could not even get near the stage to film at this point. They gave 600 lbs. the respect this band commands with a full dance floor and not one peep in the joint not nodding their head or tappin' their foot. I am a HUGE fan and will support this band forever! I did get one maybe two vid's outta Sin before the dance floor was taken over. But you know what I got to enjoy it and dance alittle myself! It was good.... All good! Thank you Charleston... I will be back!

Didn't know what to expect when I went to go see Red Audio but boys lemme tell ya what! That 3 piece band totally "Shredded my face the fuck off".... Awesome Rock band! Straight up in your face Rock-N-Roll.....
They played 5 sets ( I believe) and I walked in on set 3... right outta the damn gate I was hit with some Zeppelin! Knew right there & then I had to place myself quickly, unload my shit, grab a beer and git to filmin' asap. After that they threw out alittle Motorhead. Covered alittle bit of everything friggin' thing Ac/Dc (Let there be light), Beatles (Abbey Rd.), Billy Idol (Midnite hr.), Beastie Boys (Sabatage), My Morning Jacket, Rage Against the Machine., Black Sabbath & more Zepp. Lead guitarist & vocals kept switchin' from a Real pretty Strat to a Old school "flying V'' guitar. Jan 29, 2011 ~ Sean & Shaun * fosters

I finished my nite by jettin' over to Fosters to catch Sean & Shaun (from Bluefield, Wv) to catch their last set. This is a 2 piece acoustic set WOW... another very pleasant surprize was in store for me as I heard these Sean's play. Super vocals... beautiful harmony and it was the perfect ending to a perfect weekend! They spit out some Blue Oyster Cult, Down in the hole, and even the last song in the Napolean Dynamite movie. Threw me an original "The beats song" that was awesome... These guys were a perfect Nite Cap for me. I am a fan and hope they make it back as I'd like to catch their entire show.

JAN. 29, 2011 ~ Cancer Benefit at the Riv for Anne Cline's mom

I'd like to say first off that I'm completely amazed & proud of the talent this state holds. The more I venture out into this music world and listening & supporting Local Live Music the longer this list grow's. My heart & soul is proud of the talent Southern West Virginia has... My musican friends.. you give me a lump in my throat! Every time... I ♥ U!
The line up:
Motion Theatre
Bradley Jenkins
Anne Cline
Calendars & kerosene
The Boatmen

First up was Justin & Greg (acoustic) from Motion Theatre first thing I notice was Greg Lilly's voice had never heard him before and was very pleasantly surprized.. his harmonies with Justin (also from IHAJ) was nothing short of Schweet. Sang a dedication to Anne "You are the exception", Tom Petty along with a host of other songs that fit this duo vocally perfectly. I liked them, I liked them alot.
Second up was Bradley Jenkins (from Huntington , Wv) ~acoustic solo
This young man (18 yrs.) sings & plays like a seasoned pro... He is a young man with such an old soul.. and you can hear it every time he opens his mouth. The gem (to me) of the nite was Bradley Jenkins. Every now and again your turned onto a rare treat Bradley was it. He spit out some Old Crow Medicine show, Jack Johnson (with his own twist) loved this, an original I think was called Leeway. You can find him on myspace and also on my fb page as I downloaded some of his tunes, also bought his cd. A real treat this one was!
Next up was Anne Cline:
Now here we go again and don't wanna repeat myself but this little chica definately has an old soul and sings & plays exactly like a seasoned pro. Anne has been playing venues for a couple of years now, if you've not heard her then I strongly suggest you do so. She threw out an original "Fix me" (always love it when I get capture an original), Love is what ya got, Lady Gaga to just name a few. I could have literally filmed Anne all nite... She draw's you in like a moth to the flame and holds you there. The more I hear Anne play.. the more I love her!
Next up was Calendars & Kerosine (from Charleston, Wv)
Josh Huddleston (vocals/ guitar) ~ Blake Hill (lead) ~ Derek Walker (Drums) ~ Clinton Scott (Bass) These guys came right up to me and introduced themselves.. more faces to the facebook musican friends and I love that! I only hate that I could not get any footage of them because at this point the place was jammed packed and there was absoultely no way of getting up front. But I can say this from what I heard was ELECTRIC... and I loved it.
Finished with The Boatmen:
Some thing I noticed bout last nite.... musicans' not only come together as One but also support one another financially. I witnessed a CD being purchased from one musican by another they had never met each other (to my knowledge) before last nite. This brought a smile to my face.. what brought a bigger smile to my face is that certain musican that purchased the CD bought it for me! Nick you rock and I love you! Only thing he didn't know is... I'd already beat him to it and had been to the merch. table earlier. The Boatmen kicked out some Jackie Greene (and Nick Durm) must have been feeling his oats cuz he spit it out like I've not seen him ever do....and Daayum it was just freakin' CRAZY GOOD! They even threw out The Who... I love these guys and wanna thank each of them Matt, Nick, Randy, Rob because alittle a year ago...... THE BOATMEN are who put me on this wonderful music trip and gave me this beautiful "Addiction" I call my life now! Much love to you... Much Love!

Jan 28, 2011 ~ Cinnamon Sensation * Fosters

Second half of my nite I went to Fosters to catch Cinnamon Sensation...
I love this guy... (peroid) jealous of his guitar skillz. This 3 piece band does it for me every freakin' time... Got some Old Crow Medicine Show, Watchtower, Citizen Cope (I love this..), Outkast.(Hey ya), Curbside Profit , and of course Dave Matthews.
I've said it before and I'll say it again when Mike opens his mouth I'm reminded of back in the day when I heard Dave Matthews in C'ville (pre signed) and fell in love... Mike's vocals does that for me as well. This is a tight 3 piece band that get's it, and they get me every time I hear them play. I love's me sum Mike Snodgrass.. I am a huge fan! Vid's will follow as they download.

Jan 28, 2011 ~ "SURPRIZE SEND OFF FOR GILKEY"

PART 1~

Some of the guys got together for a Surprize Send off Party for Randy Gilkey. He is leaving Monday to begin training with his new seeing eye dog! This in itself is most exciting for all that know this wonderful man... We are all thrilled for him. The plan was set, the musicans (there were many) unfortunately I did not get to meet all of them but did put face's & shook the hands of some more of my Facebook peeps, were in place. Now all we needed was Gilk to walk thru the door. He had no idea as to what was about to take place... which was awesome! Randy walked in and to say he was Surprized is a understatement! I have a flashback for a minute of the Toys for Tots gig... with so many musicans in one place sharing one stage... was heaven for me. The nite was truely magical!
First up was Verns Pot of chili (5 members of this group) were present, Gilk steps up on stage to jam with them along with Allen Sizemore from Wild Rumpus (by the way Allan plays barefoot) F'n love that!! Blues was the muse and OMG I can already tell that I'm in for one Helluva nite. I heard some orginal Wild Rumpus tunes, Boatmen tunes, Verns pot of chili tunes and even busted out some "Dirty Bastard"~ Got cha money freestylin'. The musican's that shared the stage were~ Allen Sizemore, Matt Mullins, Nick Durm, Rob Gross, Brad Kinder (didn't know you played dude... U rocked), David Albright (didn't know you played drums either) , Dan (from Verns pot of chili, (there were other members of Verns) but unfortunately I didn't catch their names or get to meet them...next time for sure, TJ (Gilk's friend) that's a freestylin' fool, Keira (little chica can flat out belt it out),Jevon (from Parrot stepped up to throw his flow) Vid's will follow in PART 2 of this blog as they get downloaded throughout the day....
This nite for me was one for the books! I'm still smilin'

JAN 27, 2011 ~ 3 CARD MONTE * FOSTERS

3 CARD MONTE IS MADE UP OF : JAY MILAM / BRIAN HORNSBY / STEVE  SPARKS

Don't know where in the hell I've been but all I can say is this... this multi talented band has my jaw dropped! Boy have I been missing out! Love it when bands bleed one song right into the next... and that's exactly what you get with 3 Card Monte. They covered every thing from R.E. M (Milam on harp) which was spot on, China Grove, Shine, Eagles, Matchbox 20, Prince (Purple Rain) loved it! Even got me some Rolling Stones (Honky tonk woman), Stevie Ray Vaughn,  and yeah... I knew it was coming Tom Petty (Running). Milam proves why Eddie Van Halen is one of the greatest guitarist of all times... and does it well,  my jaw was dropped yet again as he tears that Washburn a new ass! WOW just wow.... I am a fan of this band and will make sure to keep close watch on their schedule from now on.
Hornsby & Milam switched up with Hornsby on bass and Milam took the lead (which I might add throughly enjoyed watching this guitarist switching up his guitars) From a beautiful Red Washburn to a lovely G&L Fender and kicked out alittle While my guitar gently weeps! Even kicked out alittle Funk before the nite was thru. Had 4 lead guitarist that stepped up on stage last nite ~ Hornsby, Milam, and switched from Bill's to Will's as 2 from the audience stepped up and kicked out one or two. Good nite of music and even better I got to put face's to a couple of facebook friends & shake their hands! <3 that.

I dig... nice little funky beat.
I swear every time I hear Snodgrass open his mouth... I hear Dave Matthews.
<3 that.. not taking any thing away from Mike's vocals by no means. The dude can sing and his range... all ovah da place!
Also Love his beautiful Ibenez guitar.
Love you~ Also on the new album I love it when musican's do original's .. covers are great but originals...put you in their head & take you there.
Not sure what it is about a Red bass.... but I like em' and Johnathan is bangin' his out. Mike with his sound effects (cuz he broke his harp) is perfect.
Citizen Cope ~ Son's gonna rise... thank you!
ANNE CLINE ~ steps up on stage w/ Mike on Conga's (didn't know that he played) but of course did I even doubt him ....... Daaayum and wouldn't you know I do not have my video cam. w/ me. JAN. 2 ~ MY THOUGHTS

There is an old saying (one of which my grandmother had told me for years) it goes like this: Whatever you are doing & whoever you may be with at the stroke of midnite on New Years eve is what your year ahead will be like.... If this is the case (and it has not proved ME wrong thus far in years past) I will be flying solo while listening to Live music & Vid's will sure to follow~
